Colby Logan recalls fondly, before
graduating DHS in 1992, a proverbial line from a Robert
Frost poem read by one of his favorite English teachers: Two
roads diverged in a wood, And I took the one less traveled
by, And that has made all the difference. Colby
never forgot these profound words and never truly understood
the impact of applying the philosophy to his life for
that matter until recently.
After
graduating from Texas A&M in 1997 with a degree
in Mechanical Engineering, Colby ventured into the
world
of software consulting, taking a job with Price Waterhouse
to travel the country building business software and
learning the ins and outs of the business consulting
world. With some solid skills under his belt, he left
his Texas home-base of Houston and moved out to the
west coast to San Francisco to try his hand at independent
consulting in the booming dot-com industry in late
1999. A year and a half into his journey on the
west coast, Colby found himself being pulled in a direction
that he never expected; his love for music. "Music
has always been a huge part of my life...from friends
and family gatherings to school and church functions...but
I never thought about making a career out of it and
focusing all my energy towards my passion for singing
and performing...now I wouldn't think of doing anything
else."
After
making the decision to leave the corporate world and
commit his life to music, Colby moved back to Duncanville
in mid 2002 to begin his journey as a full-time musician.
Three years later to the present,
after touring and headlining
venues in just about every major city in Texas with
his band,
Anytown, Colby
has embarked on a solo career. Colby describes
the music he creates as "timeless";
a little mix of folk, country, and pop with big vocal
harmonies
and all acoustic instruments...all the elements of
the music and artists that inspired him growing up
from James Taylor to Billy Joel to Crosby Stills Nash
to The Eagles.
Colby
recites the events of his recent DHS 10 year class
reunion and the great friendships that were rekindled. "After
seeing so many great friends at the reunion, I was
reminded of the awesome experiences that I had at DHS
and with all of my friends from there. I learned
so much, had a ton of great teachers, and had a lot
of good experiences with my DHS friends...there won't
ever be another time like that in my life, so I'm glad
that I can look fondly on my memories from my time
there".
Colby
now resides in old-town Plano and plays locally at
Poor David's Pub, Cretia's, The Flying Saucer and many
other venues around DFW and the state. He has
a new full-length album coming out on November 25th
(day after Thanksgiving). You can find out more
